He is passionate about improving education outcomes and human capital development policies while promoting reform-based leadership to eliminate socio-economic inequalities and achieve a sustainable economic growth within developing countries.

In 2012, following the increasing number of out-of-school children across Africa, Orondaam founded Slum2School Africa to support the education of underserved children in slums/hard- to-reach communities and since inception, Slum2School has grown to become one of Africa’s leading volunteer-driven developmental organizations.

Otto has worked with over 10,100 volunteers across 42 countries providing educational scholarships and various development support to over 107,450 children from 45 African communities. He has built various early childhood development centres, adopted public schools, built e-libraries, health centres, STEM and Innovation labs which are serving thousands of children.

In 2020, when most underserved children were significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Otto led his team and created the first virtual learning studio/classroom in Africa which had seen the continued learning of over a thousand children via remote learning and attracted international awards.

Orondaam was named amongst the Global 100 Most Influential People of African Descent in support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly. He is a member of the United Nations Global Compact, a member of the Human Capital Development commission of the Nigerian Economic summit Group, a co- founder of the Education Reform and Innovation Team and an Ambassador for Junior Achievement. He is a Mandela Washington Fellow and served as the Chair of the West and Central African Regional Advisory Board for the Young African Leaders Initiative.

Otto Orondaam has spoken on various international platforms and has been featured as one of African Change makers on CNN African Voices, as well as various international platforms like Forbes, BBC, The Guardian, Business Day and a host of others.

Otto’s vision is to see that every child and youth, irrespective of their economic or social background, colour, origin, gender and physical or mental ability is given an equal opportunity and the best chance to quality education to enable them to maximize their potentials and contribute positively to the reformation of the policies that ensure the growth, development and sustainability of the African continent.
