Paul Morland has been named as ‘the UK’s leading demographer’ (Scottish Daily Herald) and ‘one of the world’s pre-eminent demographers’ (Mercator). He has written articles for many newspapers and websites including The Financial Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, the Toronto Globe and Mail, the Jerusalem Post and UnHerd. Morland is the author of two other books, ‘Demographic Engineering: Population Strategies in Ethnic Conflict’ (Ashgate and Routledge, 2014) and ‘The Human Tide: How Population Shaped the Modern World’ (John Murray and Public Affairs, 2019) His books have been translated into nine languages.
Morland makes frequent TV and radio appearances on the BBC (BBC News, BBC World, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 2, BBC Scotland) and on other media outlets including Sky News, GB News, Times Radio and Talk TV. He has also spoken on overseas media outlets including in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Irish Republic. He has been cited in the Washington Post and New York Times, reviewed in The Economist and The Wall Street Journal and interviewed in The Scottish Sunday Herald, Australia's Good Weekend and Der Spiegel. He has appeared in numerous podcasts.
He has a BA and MPhil from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of London. He has been an Associate Research Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London and a senior member at St Antony’s College Oxford. A dual national of the UK and Germany, he has three adult children and lives in London with his wife.
