Kingsley Moghalu is the Founder & CEO of Sogato Strategies LLC. He served as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2009-2014, leading the implementation of extensive reforms in Nigeria’s $200 billion-banking sector and in the country’s payments system and serving as a Member of the President of Nigeria’s Economic Management Team under President Goodluck Jonathan.
He also served in corporate governance leadership roles as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM Bank) and the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC), and a member of the Boards of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), and the global Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Upon the completion of his five-year tenure at the CBN, he was appointed Professor of Practice in International Business and Public Policy at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Boston, USA. Kingsley previously served as a senior official of the United Nations for 17 years in New York, Cambodia, Croatia, Rwanda, and Switzerland, and recently served as Special Envoy of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Post-Covid Development Finance for Africa. He was a presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2019 general election.
Kingsley obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree at the London School of Economics, the M.A. at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and the LL.B. degree from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is the author of four books, including the critically acclaimed Emerging Africa: How the Global Economy’s Last Frontier Can Prosper and Matter.
