Dr. Lisa Sanders is a internal medicine physician, professor at the Yale School of Medicine, and acclaimed author who has redefined how we think about medicine, mystery, and the power of listening. Known to millions as the "real-life Sherlock Holmes of medicine," Dr. Sanders has turned the art of medical diagnosis into a compelling, human-centered journey.

Before embarking on her medical career, Dr. Sanders was an Emmy Award–winning news producer for CBS News. Driven by a passion for science and storytelling, she pivoted to medicine—graduating from the Yale School of Medicine, where she completed her residency and chief residency, and where she continues to teach, practice, and serve as the Medical Director of Yale’s Long COVID Multidisciplinary Care Center. Dr. Sanders is best known as the creator and writer of The New York Times Magazine’s long-running and immensely popular "Diagnosis" column.

Her work directly inspired the hit, long-running television drama House, M.D., where she served as a technical consultant throughout the show’s run. Expanding her reach even further, she partnered with The New York Times to create the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary series Diagnosis, which crowdsourced answers to unlock complex, rare medical cases around the globe. She is the author of several best-selling books, including Every Patient Tells a Story: Medical Mysteries and the Art of Diagnosis and Diagnosis: Solving the Most Baffling Medical Mysteries.

Through her keynotes, writings, and research on clinical decision-making, Dr. Sanders champions active listening, team collaboration, and empathy—reminding healthcare providers and leaders alike that the secret to solving the most complex problems always begins with listening to the human story.
