Mikey Cohen is best known for being an architect and principal engineer for the Netflix Edge Platform, which is part of the Netflix streaming application. Through the edge platform, Cohen worked to help create a support system that takes over 10 billion request per day and serves over 50 million customers all over the world.
Prior to his work with the edge platform, Cohen was a designer and lead engineer for systems and cloud infrastructure at Netflix which includes their Netflix API. He has helped build the platforms and also scale and migrate the data to the Amazon’s AWS. Apart from his work with Netflix, Cohen has been creator of the open source router, Zuul, which controls Netflix’s streaming and web services. He has also previously worked at various tech and start-up companies prior to Netflix. Cohen has earned his B.A. in mathematics from UC Santa Cruz.
He has recently started a new role as chair of Bike Santa Cruz County.
