Manny Pacquiao's legacy is cemented as one of the greatest boxers of all time, a global humanitarian, and a hero in his home country of the Philippines. Pacquiao is the only boxer to win a world championship in eight different divisions. The Boxing Writers Association of America and HBO named him the Fighter of the Decade for the 2000s. During Pacquiao's career, he fought some of the biggest names in the history of the sport, defeating icons like Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Miguel Cotto. His skills endured over two decades as a professional and he became the oldest welterweight champion at the age of 40 in 2019. His all-time record in the ring stands at 62-8-2 with 39 victories coming by way of knockout.
Outside of boxing, Pacquiao is revered around the world and particularly in the Phillippines. His story of coming from humble beginnings and reaching the pinnacle of sport resonates with millions. In the Phillippines, Pacquiao is known as a philanthropist and civic leader. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2010, was re-elected in 2013, and went on to serve in the Senate from 2016-2022.
